Manhood is a construct asking to be reconsidered, reimagined, reformed, re-loved.
Through a belief in concrete as an emotional sponge, presenting as fortified, yet constantly on the verge of breaking, my work attempts to engage masculinity as a heroic burden, a weight, a facade, a maleable material.
A mixture of flesh and expectations, which hardens over time. Common, yet nobel. Porous, yet petrified. Garrisoned, yet destructible.
My artistic practice explores the architecture of syntax, the spectacle of masculinity and strategies for community empowerment, through drawing, performance, sculpture, video and installation.
