Charles Hall was born in West Philadelphia, raised in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Prior to obtaining his MFA from The University of Pennsylvania, he worked in advertising as a writer and creative director, making Super Bowl commercials and influencing culture for brands like Nike, Jordan, Adidas & Reebok. An athlete at heart, a writer by trade, an activist by conscience, his practice explores the architecture of syntax, the spectacle of masculinity and strategies for community empowerment, through drawing, performance, sculpture, video and installation.
